HEALTHvision and Intelligent Medical Objects Partner to Improve the Care Delivery Process

08/15/2000

Advanced Medical Problem List Provides Access to More Accurate Clinical Information

IRVING, TEXAS and NORTHBROOK, ILLINOIS (August 14, 2000) - HEALTHvision, Inc., a leading healthcare Internet company and Intelligent Medical Objects' (IMO), a leading provider of advanced clinical tools, announced a licensing agreement for IMO's Personal Health Terminology (PHT), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9). These solutions leverage IMO's expertise in vocabulary management to enhance access to the advanced clinical information and applications included in HEALTHvision's comprehensive web architecture, e-healthSOURCE(TM). IMO's computer based medical tools will be made available through HEALTHvision's CAREvision solution, a secure and interactive solution set for physicians and their patients.

The IMO vocabulary and databases will allow physicians to codify medical problems more effectively and make associated information more accessible while care decisions are being made, ultimately leading to improved care delivery. The incorporation of IMO's interactive medical vocabulary, including PHT and CPT, into e-healthSOURCE, will allow physicians to collect and record clinical information more efficiently and conduct more effective searches. For example, if a patient is diagnosed with Angina (chest pain), the physician could select from over fifty different forms of Angina, to capture the different pathologies, severities and details related to that diagnosis. Selecting the appropriate clinical term for the patient's problem more accurately documents the patient's condition, while automatically linking to billable codes. IMO's PHT contains over 150,000 disease/problem terms, each with a fully-billable ICD-9-CM code.

"IMO is pleased to be a working with HEALTHvision to provide our technology to CAREvision users," said Frank Naeymi-Rad, President of Intelligent Medical Objects. "We look forward to providing HEALTHvision clients with improved patient-physician relationships by eliminating time consuming tasks, expediting patient diagnosis and improving patient satisfaction."

HEALTHvision provides e-health solutions enabling the local healthcare organization to deploy world class Internet solutions to physicians, patients, consumers and employees, with minimal commitment of time and resources. This allows hospitals to concentrate their resources on the health system goals of improved care delivery and overall community health. In addition, e-healthSOURCE makes the process of creating an integrated e-health strategy, targeting each group of healthcare organization constituents, a simple, cost-effective upgrade to the existing strategy.

"Connecting patients with physicians via web based applications to expedite and improve care is our primary goal," said Scott Decker, CEO of HEALTHvision. "With IMO's components embedded in the e-healthSOURCE architecture, HEALTHvision can further enhance the resources made available to physicians and healthcare professionals through our solutions and are empower them to improve physician-patient relationships."
